Duc in Altum
Classical Academy
Duc in Altum offers a collaborative, joyful classical education in the Catholic tradition. Classes gather in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays at our campus in McKinney. Students complete their lessons on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at home.
“Education is not primarily about the acquisition of information. It is not even about the acquisition of ‘skills’ in the conventional sense, to equip us for particular roles in society. It is about how we become more human (and therefore more free, in the truest sense of that word). This is a broader and a deeper question, but no less practical. Too often we have not been educating our humanity. We have been educating ourselves for doing rather than for being.”

DUC In Altum's Three Pillars
A Collaborative, Classical Education Rooted in Faith & Virtue
The Collaborative Model
The Best of School & Home
Duc in Altum is a five-day program that combines two days of a traditional classroom experience (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and three days of guided learning at home (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), giving students the structure of a school with the freedom and depth of a classical home education. This collaborative model results in a healthy balance between home life and school participation, which supports the educational needs of the student and the natural role of parents.

2
Days on Campus
Trained educators direct learning by cultivating wonder, giving instruction, providing feedback, administering assessments, and so much more.
3
Days at Home
Parents continue supporting instruction at home, guiding daily lessons, monitoring their students’ progress, and giving their children individualized attention at home.
Complete, Integrated Curriculum
Students receive a complete, integrated classical curriculum, offering the student the best of the classroom experience and the best of homeschooling.
Answering the Call

Jacopo Bassano, The Miraculous Draught of Fishes, 1545, public domain
And when he had ceased speaking,
he said to Simon,
“Put out into the deep
and let down your nets for a catch.”
And Simon answered,
“Master, we toiled all night and took nothing!
But at your word I will let down the nets.”
And when they had done this,
they enclosed a great shoal of fish;
and as their nets were breaking,
they beckoned to their partners
in the other boat to come and help them.
And they came and filled both the boats,
so that they began to sink.

Our Mission
In fidelity to Christ’s call to “put out into the deep,” Duc in Altum Classical Academy unites its work in the classroom with the formation taking place in the home, placing the cultivation of virtue and love of God at the heart of its mission. Recognizing each child as unrepeatable and deeply loved by God, the Academy leads students into an authentic encounter with Christ that awakens the mind and enlivens the heart. Through the wisdom of Holy Mother Church and the great tradition of Western civilization, we form students with disciplined minds, joyful hearts, and lives devoted to Christ and neighbor.
